LEVEL 3: ADVANCED ART INSTRUCTION

Draw A Face Using Triangulation

HOW TO MAKE A REALISTIC PORTRAIT USING GEOMETRIC SHAPES AND PATTERNS

LEVEL 3: ADVANCED ART INSTRUCTION

ART SUPPLIES NEEDED:

  1. Paper
  2. Pencil
  3. Thin black marker
  4. Reference Photo

ABOUT THIS PROJECT:

I love geometric shapes. I also love to draw people. To combine the two is just heaven to me. In this lesson, you will learn how to make a geometric portrait using the planes of your face and triangulation. I also add designs and patterns to make the different values. You will need a photo reference to help you along.

If you need help to drawing the basic face in the beginning (I do not cover this in the video) you can go to these lessons:

HOW TO DRAW A FACE

A GOOD WAY TO EASILY TRACE A FACE/PICTURE

IN THIS PROJECT, YOU WILL LEARN:

  • About the planes of the face.
  • How to add the triangles to the portrait.
  • How to add the patterns to have the create the values on the face.
  • How to draw a geometric portrait.

YOUR CHALLENGE

Draw a geometric self-portrait, of a friend or family member. Find a picture of yourself, draw the outline (the basic lines outside and the simple lines inside is where I start out.)

Then take a picture and get your parents permission to share your picture with the world.

Get crackin’ and creatin’! I wanna see this!!
